
The High Sheriff of Cumbria, Christopher Holmes DL, visited Millom, with his lovely wife Sue, to engage with local organisations dedicated to making a tangible difference in the community. During his visit, he met with Emma Wells, founder of Unseen Victims CIC, at a special lunch held at Trackside Café Bar, hosted by Ian and Warren. Esteemed guests, including Patrick Boggon, CCF trustee and Jenny Brumby , CCF grants committee member also attended the event.
The meeting provided an invaluable opportunity to discuss the vital work of Unseen Victims CIC in supporting families impacted by the criminal justice system. The discussion highlighted the crucial role of funding from Cumbria Community Foundation and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), which has enabled the organisation to expand its reach and deliver essential services to Cumbrian residents navigating the challenges of having a loved one in prison.
Emma Wells shared powerful insights into the organisation’s advocacy, emotional support, and financial assistance programmes, emphasising the often-overlooked struggles faced by families. The High Sheriff and other attendees engaged deeply in the conversation, expressing a keen interest in how Unseen Victims is addressing gaps in support and striving for meaningful systemic change. The visit underscored the importance of collaboration between community leaders, funders, and grassroots organisations in driving prison reform and family support. Emma Wells expressed her gratitude for the recognition and support, reaffirming Unseen Victims’ unwavering commitment to advocating for and assisting those indirectly affected by the justice system.“
