When someone you love goes to prison, it doesn’t just impact them β€” it can have a profound effect on your own mental health too. Feelings of shame, anxiety, isolation, and uncertainty are common, yet often go unspoken. At Unseen Victims, we believe no one should have to face this alone. This week, we’re raising awareness, offering resources, and encouraging anyone affected to access the emotional support, advocacy, and peer connection we provide 24/7.

Embrace, Empower, Elevate, Educate

At Unseen Victims, we know that when a loved one goes to prison, the emotional and psychological impact on families can be devastating β€” yet too often overlooked. This World Mental Health Week, we are proud to highlight our commitment to Embrace, Empower, Educate: embracing those affected with compassion, empowering them with knowledge and confidence, and educating the public and professionals about the realities families face.

As part of this commitment, we’re encouraging families and supporters to explore our β€˜Caring for You’ toolbox β€” a dedicated section of our website that offers mental health support, emotional guidance, and wellbeing strategies specifically designed for those affected by someone else’s imprisonment.

🧰 The toolbox includes:

  • Self-care tips and mental health check-ins
  • Guidance on managing anxiety, isolation, and trauma
  • Access to peer-led emotional support
  • Signposting to professional help when needed
  • Practical ways to set boundaries and protect your wellbeing

You are not alone, and your mental health matters. Whether you’re at the beginning of this journey or have been carrying the weight for years, we are here to support you.
